ESSF 2025 : Empowerment of Family and Workplace Drug Prevention Programs

EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP ON FAMILY AND WORKPLACE DRUG PROGRAM

By: PM Dr. Siti Salina binti Abdulah

The implementation of the “Empowerment Workshop on Family and Workplace Drug Prevention Modules” is a form of psychoeducation for agencies and the community regarding the importance of drug prevention programs by parents, particularly at home and in the workplace.

The workshop was divided into two components: a lecture session and training on the use of the drug prevention module. The lecture was delivered by an officer from AADK, Puan Wan Haslinda Wan Razali, who specializes in drug prevention aspects. This was followed by a lecture from Puan Engku Nur Najihah Che Ku Muda, which focused on the implementation of the family drug prevention module.

Participants were from various agencies such as UMT, the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), the Family Development Foundation (YPK), Skuad Waja, the Ministry of Health Malaysia, and Master’s students in Counseling from UMT. All participants were given an explanation on how to use the book Drug-Free Family Module: Smart Family, Healthy Aspirations (KILAT) published by UMT Press, to better understand the implementation of the family drug prevention module.

It is hoped that this program will achieve its objectives through AADK’s campaigns “Prevention is Better” and “Prevention Starts at Home,” in line with Principle 5 of the National Drug Policy. The essence of Principle 5 of the National Drug Policy is that family-based prevention programs should aim to strengthen family bonds and relationships, including parenting skills, practices in formulating, discussing, and implementing family policies on drug abuse, as well as continuous activities in drug prevention education.
